History of ALP Exports Ltd.

Alp Exports limited was incorporated in 1984 as Al Ameen Leathers [Ps] Ltd., by Mr. Abdulish Sanwar. Mr. Sarwar took over the family leather business at Lucknow before commencing operations at Madras. The Comp. began with the execution of small export order for Rs. 4.50 lacs to the former Soviet Union. The Comp. continued in its export of semifinished/finished leather to the Soviet Union The Comp. has been trading in this commodity since inception. During 1968-69, the Comp. diversified into the manufacture of leather garments for exports. Here again, the exports were to the Soviet Union. The company, on the break-up of Soviet Union, exported garments to U.S.A & continues to do so. The Comp. has stopped exporting semi finished/processed leather & it now exports only value added leather products.

The Comp. commenced the manufacture of leather garments during 1988-89. The Comp. has been consistently adding sewing machines to its infrastructure & the Comp. currently has 200 sewing machines & employs 575 personnel at various levels. The Comp. continues to execute orders from its first major customer, Northahore Sportswear Co. Inc. & additionally executas orders from other renowned customers like Wilsons, Fieldaton Clothes Inc. & Leathers Inn. The Comp. has entered into MOU with the buyers, namely Leathers Inn. & Northahore Sportswear Co. for export of leather garments. The Comp. also has on its board a representative from Leathers Inn.
