BRIEF HISTORY AND BUSINESS OF THE COMPANY

Alfa Transformers Limited [ATLs] was originally incorporated as Alfa Transformers Private Limited on 28th December, 1982. The Comp. was subsequently converted into a Public Limited Company; the name of Comp. was changed to Alfa Transformers limited & a fresh Certificate of Incorporation was obtained on 3rd November, 1992. The Company was not engaged in any activity till the end of 1987. The Comp. started this commercial production from January, 1988 with its plant located at Mancheshwar Industrial Estate, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. The Comp. is in the business of manufacturing power transformers up to 1.60 MVA/33 KV rating & its present installed capacity is 200 MVA per annum. It is at present catering to the requirements of different State Electricity Boards, Government undertakings as well as companies in the private sector. Some of existing customers of Comp. are M. P. State Electricity Board, Bhopal, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Bombay, Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala, Bihar State Electricity Board, Patna, Electricity Department, Government of Manipur, Imphal, Jagannath Collieries, Talcher & NEEPCO Ltd, Tinsukia, Assam. Some of customers of Comp. in Orissa are Industrial infrastructure Development Corporation, Bhubaneshwar, Mahanadi Coal fields Ltd., Gopalpur Port Project, Bhubaneshwar Development Authority Orissa Bridge Construction Corporation & Bharat Coking Coal Ltd.

The Comp. has now decided to take up an expansion programme to manufacture power transformers up to 10 MVA in the same class resulting in an increase in installed capacity up to 1000 MVA per annum. The Comp. also proposes to take up repair & maintenance job in the above class of transformers.
