History of Ledo Tea Comp. Ltd.

YEAR EVENTS 1983 - The Comp. was incorporated on 19th April, to acquire Ledo Tea Estate, Assam from Duncan Agro Industries limited The Certificate of Commencement of Business was obtained on 29th April, 1983. The Comp. belongs to Sumira group; it was promoted by R.S. Singhania and his associates and managed by Professionals.

1985 - All shares issued to promoters, directors etc. Out of total shares issued till date, 1,00,000 shares issued as bonus shares in prop. 1:1, by capitalisation of reserves on 8.1.1986 and 1,00,110 shares issued as rights at par in prop. 1:2 [including 700 shares to employeess] in February 1986.

1986 - 4,50,000 No. of equity shares issued at a prem. of Rs 2.50 per share of which 22,500 shares were reserved & allotted on a preferential basis to employees of Company. The balance 4,27,500 shares were offered for public subscription during May. 1,12,500 additional shares allotted to the public at a prem. of Rs 2.50 per share to retain oversubscription.

1994 - The Comp. spent Rs. 28.55 lakhs towards further modernisation of factory & creation of new assets including Rs. 2.26 lakhs for new plantation.

1995 - Production of Comp. was affected due to damage to the crop by flood.

2003 -The shareholders have approved the delisting companys equity shares from Calcutta, Delhi and Gauhati Stock Exchanges.
