History of Longview Tea Comp. Ltd.

LTCL was incorporated on 16th January, 1879. James, Warren and Comp. Ltd [formerly known as Planters' Stores and Agency Co. Ltds]. who had been looking after the management of Comp. as Secretary & Treasurers, resigned on 31st January, 1950 & the management was taken over by Daga and Co. Ltd, a private Comp. incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1913, as Managing Agents of Company.

LTCL started operations with a single Tea Estate, i.e. the Longview Tea Estate [LVTEs], in Darjeeling. At present the Comp. functions with six tea estates at Darjeeling, Dooars & Terai regions & producers over 30 lac kgs. of tea consisting of Darjeeling, CTC & Green varieties. The Company policy has been to acquire new Tea Estates to abet growth.

The Daga family has also promoted other industrial enterprises including Deepak Spinners Ltd, Deepak Industries Ltd & Continental Profiles Ltd.
