History of MAC Agro Industries Ltd.

The Comp. was incorported on 8th May 1944, under the direction of Iron & Steel Controller , to deal iron & steel of controlled categories, the membership being restricted only to registered stock holder under the meaning of Iron & Steel [control & distributions] order 1941.

The Comp. obtained the certificate of commencement of Business on end June 1944 from the Registrar of companies, Madras. Later the membership was thrown open to non-registered stockholders also. Manufacture of sugar was started in the subsequent years. Trading in iron & steel was discontinued in 1970. The name of Comp. was changed from South India Steel & Sugar limited to South India Sugars limited with effect from 25th Jan. 1978.

In 1996-97, the name was again changed to MAC Agro Industries limited from South India Sugars limited with effect from 14-8-1997. During the year, MAC Industries limited [MACs] and Southern Agrifurane Industries limited [SAFLs] were amalgamated with MAC Agro Industries limited with effect from 1-4-1996 as per the scheme of amalgamation.

The Comp. is now engaged in the manufacture of Indian Made Foreign Spirit, Agricultural Products & Sugar.
