History of National Switchgears Ltd.

The Comp. was incorporated on 2nd December, 1983 at Kanpur in the name & style of U.P. Switchgear Limited. The name of Comp. was changed to National Switchgears Limited., with effect from 11th October, 1985.

It was promoted in the joint sector by Hindustan Brown Boveri Limited [presently known as Asean Brown Boveri Limiteds] & the Pradeshiya Industrial & Investment Corporation of U.P.[PICUPs].

The Comp. set up a plant at Rai Bareli in Uttar Pradesh for manufacture of Switchgear with an installed capacity of 600 nos. per annum. Except NC turret punch press, major plant & machinery were acquired in the domestic market. The commercial production of Switchgears commenced in August 1990, 19 months behind schedule.
