The Comp. was incorporated on 14th December, 1979 & the certificate of commencement of business was obtained on 13th February, 1980. The Comp. entered into an agreement with Oswal Woollen Mills Ltd., for purchase of its two running solvent extraction plants along with land & building & other fixed assets & some of current assets with effect from 1st July, 1980. The consideration was paid by Comp. in the following manner : [is] Issue of 125616 equity shares of Rs 10 each at par to Oswal Woollen Mills Ltd. [iis] Balance consideration as interest free loan. The Comp. also became the owner of rights, patents, know-how, licences, etc., & trade names 'Oswal Solvent Extraction:, & 'Oswal Woollen Mills Ltd.'. The brand names used for toilet soaps are 'OASIS' & 'KALPA'. In June, 1983 the Comp. set up a soya bean processing plant at Mandideep in M.P. with an annual capacity of 90,000 tonnes. In 1984-85, the Comp. set up an oxygen plant at Ludhiana. In 1986-87, the Comp. took over a running sugar mill with 2,000 tonnes per day capacity & a new plant with 60,000 TPA capacity was to be set up for manufacture of industrial hard oils, fatty acids, stearic acids & glycerine. The Comp. acquired an existing petrochemicals & alcohol based complex in Bombay in August 1989. Commercial production in December, 1989 followed petrochemical section in March, 1990.
