History of Ramgopal Polytex Ltd.

Ramgopal Polytex Limited [RPLs] was incorporated as a public limited Comp. on 28th March 1981 & obtained certificate for commencement of business on 7th April 1981. The Comp. became a private limited Comp. on 23rd October, 1984 & was again converted into public limited Comp. on 20th July 1992. The Comp. has been promoted by the Ramgopal group headed by Mr. Mohanlal Jatia. The Ramgopal Group is one of earliest participants in the yarn trading market in India by setting up Ramgopal and Sons in 1962. The Comp. is presently engaged in the yarn processing & manufacture of draw twisted yarn at Acchad, Maharashtra.

RPL had set up a project costing Rs 822 lacs in 1992 for manufacture of draw twisted yarn at Village Amgaon, Dist Talasari, Thane with a installed capacity of 1290 TPA. The said project was commissioned in May,1993 & the entire project was fully operational in January, 1 994. By July 1994 operating capacity was 85% The Comp. has developed trading activities of supply of Polyvinyl Alcohol through imports from M/s. Itochu Corporation Japarl & has already booked business worth Rs.78.75 lacs during the year 1993-94 & achieved a turnover of Rs 90 lacs in three months of 1994-95. Ramgopal Polytex Ltd has been recently appointed as sole selling agents for India. [with the exception of Reliance Industries Ltd.s], for marketing of Polyvinyl Alcohol manufactured by Unitika Kasai Co. Ltd., Osaka,Japan. On an average RPL expects to import 4 to 5 containers [76-95 MTs] of PVA per month from M/s Itochu Corpn., Japan.

The Comp. expects to establish itself in activities of trading i.e.imports of PVA & manufacturing of large volumes of processed yarn, a part of which it expects to exports.
