History of Regent Agro Products Ltd.

Regent Agro Products limited was incorporated in October 1989 as a Public Limited Company. The certificate of commencement of business was obtained in January, 1990. The venture was promoted by Dr. Sarojini. She conceived the idea of bringing into India an Integrated Coconut Processing Complex based on the latest available 'Wet Processing' technology in the world. During the years 1990-92, she undertook an exhaustive study of various aspects of project & the sourcing of suitable technology for same. For this purpose, she visited similar hi-tech production facilities available in South East Asian Countries. During this period, extensive survey of coconut growing areas in South India was also carried out to decide on the most suitable location for setting up an integrated coconut processing plant. After series of discussion & negotiations with Alfa Laval [Indias] Ltd. [ALILs], the technology, technical know-how & equipment supply agreement was signed in September, 1993 & the project started taking shape. In the year 1994, Mr. N. Dhananjey left his services as Executive Director in Kothari Industrial Corporation Ltd & took up the implementation of project in right earnest along with his son Mr. Prasad Satyendra. The Comp. received equity participation of Rs.90 lakhs from APIDC & a similar amount of Rs.90 lakhs from Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt of India. The Comp. is setting up an integrated Coconut Processing complex with installed capacity for processing 1,15,000 Coconuts per day. The project envisages production of Virgin Coconut Oil, Medium Fat Desiccated Coconut Powder, Coconut Skimmed Milk, Coconut Shell Powder, Commercial Oil, Animal Feed and Curled Coir. The project is situated at Gowripatnam village near Kovvur Town in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The commercial production is expected to commenceoin the month of January, 1996.
