History of Rock Copco Ltd.

YEAR EVENTS 1983 - The Comp. was Incorporated in the State of West Bengal on 18th July, & obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 29th July. It belongs to the Mcleod Group of Companies having wide interests in jute, tea, engineering, etc. It was promoted by Vivek Bajoria.

- The Company objects is to manufacture, cut & polish granite & other ornamental stones & to export the same.

- Rock Copco Ltd., undertook to set up a 100% export oriented unit for manufacture of cut & polished granite with the licensed capacity of 30,400 square meters per annum. Leasehold land ad measuring 23,175 square meters was obtained.

- The Comp. has two quarries, one at Thirumandyam about 10 kms. from the site & another at Gulapalem in Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh. Computerized cutting & polishing plant was imported from M/s. B. Barsanti and Co. SAS, Italy & other auxiliary equipments for milling, sharping & drilling, etc. were procured indigenously.

1987 - 87,500 No. of equity shares allotted for cash at par. 8,85,400 No. of equity shares then issued at par of which 4,45,600 shares were reserved & allotted to promoters, directors, their friends etc. Of the balance 4,39,800 shares, the following were reserved for allotment. On a preferential basis:

- [iis] 44,000 shares to employees/workers of Comp. [only 400 shares taken ups]. The remaining 1,95,800 shares along with the subscribed portion of 43,600 shares from the employees quota were offered for public subscription during September 1987. Additional 2,21,300 shares were allotted to retain over subscription [1,11,400 shares to promoters, 20,000 shares to NRIs & 89,900 shares to the publics]. 1988 - Production was adversely affected due to unprecedented power cuts & heavy rainfall.

1992 - The Capacity utilisation of plant continued to be very low due to non-availability of specific type of blocks.

1995 - Production of cut & polished slabs however lower at 5,333 sq. mts. compared to 10,113 sq. mtrs in the previous year due to breakdown of polishing line. Khammam quarry was in operation throughout the year.

- 10,00,000 No. of equity shares allotted at a prem. of Rs.10 per share to promoters on private placement basis.

1996 - Turnover declined to Rs.61.26 lakhs due to closure of factory since September.
