Economy on recovery gives recruitment a boost

New Delhi, Aug 17: As the Indian economy continues to show positive signs, the Indian companies, which have frozen recruitment, have resumed hiring activities, say HR experts.

'Hiring trends are picking up with companies opening up again for fresh recruitments... the days of downturn seem to be over and an upswing has begun. The resume posting activity is picking up again as people are testing the waters for changing their jobs,' International Management Institute (IMI) Director C S Venkata Ratnam was qoted as saying in a new agency report.

Global consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers Executive Director R Sankar said, 'The job scene has improved but is still to reach the levels of euphoria we were accustomed to in earlier years. We don't see a 'flurry of resumes' but cherry picking of key talent continues to happen.'

He, however, added that hiring depends on the pace of economic recovery. Even though there are positive signs, the lack of rainfall is still a cause of concern, he noted.

According to a survey done by a job portal, India Inc's corporate hiring in banking and financial services sector went up by 22 per cent in Jun 2009. The Indian job trends are in line with the global
trends.
