RIL-RNRL dispute: Govt backs Petroleum Ministry

New Delhi, Aug 1: Amid Anil Ambani's raging accusations against his bother, Mukesh Ambani and the Petroleum Ministry over the RIL-RNRL gas dispute, the Law Minister, Veerappa Moily came out to say that the government fully supports the Petroleum Minister, Murli Deora in the issue.

Moily on Friday, Jul 31 said that the government was backing Deora in the dispute over gas supply from KG Basin and that it will not compromise on the its right over national resources.

Hinting at owner of Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL), Anil Ambani's accusations that the Oil Ministry was favouring Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Moily said, 'It is uncharitable for some people to have made such comments about Deora or any other person. The Government is one on this.'

Moily's statement came after he met with the Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee who convened a meeting with the Law and Oil ministers, and Government legal experts on the dispute.

This was the second meeting in a week. The first meeting was convened by the Finance Minister immediately after Anil Ambani's address to his group company RNRL's shareholders where he made the accusations against the ministry.
